Di Atlantic Ocean, fit also dey among wetin cause di gbege wey happen for dat United Airlines Flight 613 on January 23, 2025 . But make we talk am straight: na investigation go clear all di speculations wey people dey carry waka.

Omo! Dis kain wahala no be wetin pesin go wish even hin enemy o! Imagine say you dey one fine plane, wey e dey do shakara for sky like eagle. People dey eat, dey sleep, dey relax, when suddenly plane do “gbam!” Items wey dey overhead come dey fly comot like sey na ghost dey collect pesin gift.

Food tray dey waka anyhow, pesin slippers go miss. Wetin go pain pass na if you no fasten your seatbelt; e go be like say na invisible spirit wan carry you go air gymnastics. Omo, na real-life “roller coaster” ride without ticket!

For di matter, di pilots try wella. Imagine say you dey drive motor, di tire bust, na only skill and quick thinking go save di day. Di crew sef sabi job, as dem calm everybody down, treat di injured, and make sure say di plane turn back sharp-sharp to Lagos. Na dem be real MVP for dis kain wahala.

When di plane finally land back for Lagos, di emergency people dey wait gidigba like Avengers. Ambulance dey stand by, doctors dey, everything just dey ready. Out of di 40 people wey get wound, six people injury serious pass, but dem rush dem go Duchess Hospital for Ikeja.

As for di ones wey no too wound like dat, dem do small first aid con tell dem say, “Oya, you fit dey go house.” Na God hand we dey o.

Wetin come happen next? United Airlines rush issue press release talk say na “technical issue and unexpected aircraft movement” cause di katakata. Dem claim say no be turbulence matter, and dis one dey raise eyebrow.

Aviation authorities for Nigeria and di United States come hold meeting to tok wetin really happen. Na proper investigation dem dey run now, and everybody dey wait for di final gist.

Dis kain palava no be new thing for di world of aviation. E get one time for March 2024 wey United Airlines plane wey dey fly from Houston to Florida begin spark fire like Christmas light for one engine.

People dey inside dey shout “Blood of Jesus!” as dem see fire dey shine for outside. Luckily, di pilot sabi hin onions; e land back for Houston, and no pesin wound.

Closer to di shores of Naija, September 2023, rain dey fall anyhow for Lagos, wey United Nigeria Airlines plane come land waka go bush. Di people for di plane thank God say na only bush dem go, and nobody die. Na di Safety Bureau handle di investigation for dat one.

As for di passengers for Flight 613, their experience no be wetin dem go forget. One pesin talk say di feeling na like free fall, and e be like di plane dey “dive”. Oluwaseun, one pesin wey sit down for middle, tok say “Omo, e be like say I dey ride jet ski for air. Di thing na movie for real life.”

Passengers dey praise di cabin crew wella, say dem behave like action heroes wey dey calm everybody down. Dem no dey shout or panic, instead dem dey help pesin wear seatbelt, dey pet children wey dey cry, and dey attend to di wounded. Omo, no be everybody fit do dis kain work o.

Di aviation oga for Nigeria, NCAA, come issue statement say safety na dem priority. Dem talk say di accident no cause fatality, and dem thank di pilot and crew for di professional way dem handle di matter. FAAN sef yarn say di emergency protocols wey dem put for ground work well, and e save many lives.

Wetin come cause di yawa? People dey speculate say e fit be autopilot matter or cabin pressure wahala, but we no go sabi true-true wetin happen until di investigation complete. Some aviation experts dey hint say di problem fit come from mechanical issue like di elevator controls wey dey control di up and down of di plane.

Na big matter, and pipo dey hope make United Airlines and di authorities find di koko of di matter so dis kind thing no go repeat again.

Abeg, you fit just imagine wetin some passengers dey go through emotionally. E no easy at all. Na why United Airlines come arrange hotel for Lagos, provide therapy for di ones wey dey fear to fly again, and dem dey try make sure say everybody wey dey inside di plane get di care wey dem need.

To wrap dis Pidgin News tori, wetin happen to United Airlines Flight 613 dey show us say even with all di technology wey dey, sometimes, yawa fit still gas. But di way we handle di matter na wetin go determine how things go end.

Di pilots, crew, and emergency teams deserve accolades for di way dem save lives. And for di passengers, dis experience go always dey for their memory.

Omo, make we dey thank papa God say dis kind thing no turn bigger palava. People wey dey onboard fit tell di story today. As di final investigation result dey come, make we hope say dem go find solution for this kain wahala.

Aircraft Manufacturing: Dream or Distraction for Nigeria?

Published

on

By

Abstract representation of aircraft manufacturing in Nigeria, focusing on the industry's challenges and the country's transportation priorities.
Aircraft manufacturing sweet for ear, but na better transport system we need now. Focus on ground before sky.

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, talk during one ogbonge event for Abuja, where dem launch XeJet Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, talk say Nigeria wan start aircraft manufacturing. Di whole tin dey sweet for ear as dem talk about how e go make Nigeria di center for West Africa aviation. Dem even talk say e go bring plenty jobs, after XeJet CEO Emmanuel Iza talk how dem wan even start to dey manufacture aircraft parts like wings and landing gears.

E sweet for ear. But look am well, e be like person wey never get shoe dey plan build aeroplane.

Fuel price increase wahala don turn reality. Pipo dey pack dia moto for house, manage pay transport fare, food price dey climb like Mount Everest. So, why government go dey reason aircraft when pipo never fit enter bus? Dis kain matter dey make pesin wonder if dem dey hear wetin Nigerians dey complain about.

Wait, make we slice dis mata small small like kpomo for soup, make e dey easy to chop. Aircraft manufacturing no be child’s play. Di money e go chop fit solve plenty problem for Nigeria. We dey talk billions of dollars—di kind dollars wey if e enter education or health care, e fit change things. For di kind situation wey we dey now, di question wey dey our mind be: wetin Nigeria need pass—Aero plane factory or cheaper transport for ground?

Another thing na di skill wey you go need. Aircraft manufacturing na serious business, no be wetin apprentice go learn for two weeks. Na years of training and experience, plus di kind big technology wey Nigeria no even get yet. To even reach small level for di industry, na long road dem go waka to reach talkless of high level own. But for the other side, to fix fuel and transport issues go dey quicker and easier if we focus well.

E get one talk wey Emmanuel Iza talk—say dem wan multiply jobs wey dem don already create. E sweet for ear, but e dey realistic? Aircraft manufacturing no go create jobs wey plenty Nigerians fit do immediately. Most work go need heavy training. But if na to manufacture vehicles wey dey use natural gas (CNG), jobs go spread well well because di skill wey e need no too complex like aircraft own.

Aircraft manufacturing go need market. Na who go dey buy di Aeroplane? Local market no reach, and di international market get big, big players like Boeing and Airbus wey don dey dia for years. Nigeria no even go fit compete for dat level without di right certification and reputation. But, if na CNG vehicles, di demand go dey high for Nigeria and even di entire Africa because di transport system go benefit from cheaper fuel.

You don hear about di plenty natural gas wey Nigeria get? We suppose use wetin we get. Instead to invest billions to build aircraft factory and aircraft, government fit invest am inside CNG vehicles factory. E go solve fuel wahala, reduce transport cost, reduce cost of living, reduce dependence on fuel  and still give plenty jobs. Nigerians go rush CNG motors wey no go burn pocket like di regular fuel motors.

Di infrastructure wey dem dey talk about for di aircraft factory go cost die. Taxiway, runway, di maintenance facility—di money no be small. But if na CNG infrastructure, di cost go dey reasonable, and di impact go dey quick and broad. You go fit see di change for road, see di jobs, and even di environment go clean because CNG dey burn cleaner pass petrol or diesel.

Wetin dey pain pass na di scale of preference wey di government dey use put. Nigerians dey hustle to survive, and government dey plan aircraft. E go make sense if dem channel dat energy go areas wey go really touch lives—like education, health care, or even di power sector wey still dey do anyhow. Instead of to dey fly for air, make dem first stand gidigba for ground.

If dem wan make di aviation dream work, make dem no rush am. Di basic things need to dey first. Di country suppose get beta roads, stable power, good education, and affordable transport before dem go begin dey look skyward. Aircraft manufacturing na luxury wey Nigeria no fit afford for now.

Di XeJet project wey dem launch dey try, no doubt. E good say dem wan make Nigeria di hub for maintenance and repair for West Africa. But make dem no bite pass wetin dem fit chew. Di maintenance side fit still dey grow while dem dey reason how to solve di pressing problems wey dey face di country.

For di whole matter, e get as e be. Di idea of aircraft manufacturing dey ambitious and sweet for ear, but di timing no make sense. Di fuel price wahala dey choke, and di solution no be airplane. Wetin we need na beta road transport system wey go dey affordable and effective. CNG motors fit change di game for Nigerians, reduce di cost of transport, and help everybody live beta life. Na dia we suppose dey focus for now.

No be bad thing to dream big, but no be di right time. If Nigeria go move forward, we go need leaders wey sabi wetin dey important for di moment and sabi prioritize. Di future fit hold aircraft for us, but for now, make we face ground first before we look sky.
